The Women in Interventional Pulmonology (WiIP) is a dedicated organization that aims to provide a supportive and nurturing environment for mentorship to each of our members. Our mission is to advance the standard and elevate the field of Interventional Pulmonology by offering opportunities for growth and development within the industry.

As we continue to evolve, WiIP will seek to define opportunities for collaboration in education, research, career advancement, and leadership development while also promoting the well-being of our members both professionally and personally. The Executive Board

Jasleen Pannu, MD - President

I am an Assistant Professor of Medicine and Director of the Interventional Pulmonology Translational Research in the Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine at The Ohio State University Medical Center (OSUMC). I specialize in diagnosing and treating complex airway and lung conditions, including lung cancer, airway obstructions, and pulmonary nodules. As a distinguished educator and mentor, I am dedicated to training the next generation of pulmonologists and actively involved in research and collaborative efforts to improve patient outcomes. I aim to build a high-quality research and quality improvement core at OSUMC in the evolving field of interventional pulmonology (IP). I am passionate about “Early Detection of Lung Cancer” and “Overcoming Disparities in Lung Cancer Care.” My current focus is developing a state-of-the-art, early lung cancer detection program at James Cancer Center at Ohio State University, Columbus, USA.

 

Nina Maouelainin, DO, MBA, FCCP - Past President

Dr. Nina Maouelainin is a leading expert in pulmonary medicine and the CEO and President of Lung Health Services, a Private Interventional Pulmonology practice. Under her guidance, the organization delivers cutting-edge care to lung cancer patients across the Greater Philadelphia region. Lung Health Services. She is the Program Director of Interventional Pulmonology at Jefferson- Einstein Montgomery Medical Center. Dr. Maouelainin's commitment to advancing lung cancer awareness and ensuring accessible, comprehensive care underscores her leadership and dedication. Dr. Maouelainin began her medical career in France before pursuing further education in the USA. After completing her training at Crozer-Chester Medical Center and a fellowship in Pulmonary Disease and Critical Care Medicine at Drexel University – Hahnemann University Hospital in 2008. Her pioneering spirit led her to one of the first accredited interventional pulmonology fellowships at the Cancer Treatment Centers of America in Philadelphia. Upon completion in 2011, she established the first private interventional pulmonology practice. Today, Dr. Maouelainin is also the President of Women in IP (WIIP) and Vice Chair of the American Lung Association's Eastern region, continuing to shape the future of pulmonary care.

Colleen Keyes, MD, MPH - Vice President

 

Dr. Colleen Keyes, MD is a pulmonologist in Boston, MA and has over 19 years of experience in the medical field. Dr. Keyes has extensive experience in Pulmonary Neoplasms and Obstructive Lung Disease. She graduated from Boston University in 2004. She is affiliated with Massachusetts General Hospital.

Lamya Chrif, MD, MSc - International Vice President

Dr. Lamya Chrif Morand is an interventional pulmonologist and thoracic oncologist, practicing in Morocco. Previously, she practiced in France in different hospitals and pulmonology departments of theAP-HP in the Paris region. She has also enriched her expertise with several complementary university degrees in different French universities in chronic pulmonary vascular diseases, interstitial lung diseases, and sleep respiratory pathologies. She also obtained a Master's degree in Interventional Pulmonology from the University of Florence in Italy. This multidisciplinary training gives her complete expertise in pulmonology.
In her private practice in Morocco, Dr. Chrif Morand widely uses interventional pulmonology for an effective diagnosis of her patients. A pioneer in the introduction of certain interventional pulmonology techniques in Morocco, such as cryoEBUS and transbronchial cryo-biopsies, she also organized the first workshops and the first national congress dedicated to this discipline. Her commitment to excellence and innovation is recognized by the WABIP Distinguished Regent Award 2024. An active member of several national and international associations, including ERS, CHEST, IASLC, and SPLF, she actively participates in the advancement of research and best practices in pulmonology and thoracic oncology. Currently, she is pursuing a PhD in artificial intelligence applied to the early diagnosis of lung cancer and teaches respiratory pathology courses for students at the medical school.

Jennifer Toth, MD, FCCP -Secretary Treasurer

Dr. Jennifer Toth is the Director of Interventional Pulmonology and a Professor of Medicine and Surgery at Penn State Health. She established the IP program in 2007 and IP fellowship (first fellow in 2018) at Penn State which is now ACGME accredited. She is a longstanding member of AABIP, past president of Society for Advanced Bronchoscopy and founding member of Women in Interventional Pulmonology. She and her husband Dr. Michael Reed (thoracic surgery) are heavily involved in multidisciplinary teaching and patient care, collaborating on cases and cross training pulmonary, IP, and thoracic fellows.

International Executive Members

Semra Bilaceroglu, MD, FCCP - Turkey

Prof. Semra Bilaceroglu is the academic director of a pulmonary department in Izmir Faculty of Medicine, University of Health Sciences-Turkiye. She performed pleural research with the late Prof. Richard Light, and was entitled “Visiting Professor” by the Belgrade University Medical Faculty. She served as the secretary and president of the European Association for Bronchology and Interventional Pulmonology (EABIP), as a member of the CHEST Executive Board and as the Chair of CHEST Council of Global Governors. She organized 2013 and 2017 EABIP Congresses, is a reviewer and associate editor of several international high-impact journals and has published extensively in pulmonary medicine and interventional pulmonology.

Filiz Oezkan, MD - Germany 

Filiz Oezkan is Associate Professor of Pulmonology and works as attending physician of interventional pulmonology at the University Medicine Essen-Ruhrlandklinik in Essen, Germany which belongs to the West German Cancer Center. About 1000 primary lung cancer diagnoses are established at Ruhrlandklinik yearly, so there is huge expertise at lung cancer diagnosis and treatment including bronchoscopic diagnostic and treatment strategies including linear and radial EBUS, rigid bronchoscopy for recanalization including stent placement, and others. Another focus are endoscopic lung volume reduction treatments including endobronchial valves, coils and vapor. As part of the center of rare lung diseases peripheral cryobiopsies are performed several times a week as well.

Preeti Vidyasagar, MD, DNB, DM - India

Dr. Belgundi Preeti Vidyasagar has received intensive training and has developed the necessary skills to perform both basic and advanced bronchoscopy, including flexible bronchoscopy, transbronchial lung biopsy, endobronchial biopsy, endobronchial ultrasound (linear & radial), semi-rigid and rigid pleuroscopy, foreign body extraction, and cryoextraction. Her additional skills and experience include managing COPD, asthma, bronchiolitis, bronchiectasis, tuberculosis, infectious disease, ILD (DPLD), ABPA, vasculitis, pulmonary vascular disorders, occupational lung diseases, pleural and mediastinal disorders, and lung and pleural malignancies.

Jane Winantea, MD - Germany

Jane Winantea is a senior attending physician at Ruhrlandklinik, University Medicine Essen, in Essen, Germany, with over a decade of experience in interventional pulmonology. She completed her doctorate degree in 2017, having been mentored by the esteemed Lutz Freitag. Jane's clinical expertise primarily revolves around the diagnostic and staging of lung cancer, as well as the bronchoscopic treatment of central airway stenosis and bronchoscopic lung volume reduction. Throughout her career, she has concentrated her research efforts on bronchoscopic techniques, particularly in the area of bronchoscopic lung volume reduction. Recently, she has developed a keen interest in translational lung cancer research and is actively involved in several ongoing projects within this field.
